On the 8/1/2008 and 8/2/2008 Judy and I went on the road to the worlds longest yard sale. After a full day of walking and looking we needed nourishment. We should have laid a plan on where we where going to stop and eat, but being a weekend of fun and relaxation it was all spontaneous. After very little discussion we decided that we would stop in Mentone to eat. In Mentone there was a little place called Log Cabin Restaurant. Its small and easy accessible. Now with all the people that where at the yard sales we didn’t think there would be a place that still had any food. We ordered the country fried steak and cream potatoes and cold slaw with a role and I had a Coke Judy had Dr. Pepper. To our surprise they did have food. Although we did get the last order of the country fried steak.( sorry to the nice people that sat down next to us and couldn’t order). Now on to the review… The Restaurant can get a high score of five(5) stars. Each star is awarded in a category of its own. Categories are Health Score… Correctness of order and Taste… Speed… Friendliness and Appearance… Cleanliness… Health Score was 96 so that equals to 4 points Correctness and Taste : The order was perfect and Tasted as good as if you had cooked it at home. The gravy was smooth, the steak was tender and seasoned just right, The potatoes weren’t the best I’ve had but, were very good, there cold slaw was just a little sweet (not much), the roll was a roll. They score 4 points in this category.. We were seated and a drink was served with in a minute and half. The food took just a while longer, But the 4 or 5 minute wait was well worth it. 5 points in the speed category It looked like a cabin inside and out, the waitress was quick and to the point but nice and friendly, All of the employees seemed like family, ready to help. 5 points in this category Cleanliness ..Well I’ll give them a little break for the massive amount of people on this day. The restrooms were closed when we were there, due to the mess. There was a bus girl that was not busy and I thought she could have cleaned them. There were a few spider webs hanging around ,but I think that was part of their rustic look. The cooks looked like bikers, I would like to have seen hair nets. But with the day they had already had they might have started with them. They score 3 points in this category… They score an over all score of 4 stars…
